Instruction will include demonstrations and examples of all techniques and exercises, as well as positive feedback, including:
The basic materials, tools, and surfaces for creating with oil pastels.
Basic application techniques including layering, blending, mixing, and scumbling.
The basics of colour theory and mixing, and how to apply colour theory to an oil pastel drawing.
How to draw using observational mapping techniques.
How to develop a simple still life drawing with a monochromatic colour scheme.
How to use contrast to create colourful oil pastel drawings that pop.
Did you know? In 1949, Pablo Picasso asked French chemist and supplier Henri Sennelier to formulate a rich, heavy-pigment pastel for professional artists: artist-grade oil pastels.
Stephanie is an established multi-Disciplinary visual artist with over 40 years of experience in portrait and figurative painting. Her ability as a multi-disciplinary artist enables her to focus more on leading and fostering students, whether privately or as groups, towards imagination and self-expression in her workshops.
Recently she is the recipient of the 2023 Marty Award, from the Mississauga Arts Council, for the category of Established Artist in Traditional form and her mentorship in the arts for Peel region.
