Seriously, drawing is the easiest way to learn about observation, detail, perspective, composition, shape design, line work, as well as light and shadow.
Working through exercises for drawing proficiency, you will learn drawing techniques, and discover new ways of seeing and thinking about drawing.
You will work through the fundamentals of line, shape and form, using expressive line, blind contour, and tonal values.
You be guided on how to use visual tools to determine proportion and perspective.
Instruction will include demonstrations and examples of all techniques and exercises, as well as positive feedback, including:
Line into shape and Form - blind contour drawing
Shading techniques to create form
Using visual tools for proportion and perspective
What is Negative Space and why is it important?
The still life and interconnection
How to observe and draw different textures in one drawing
9”x 12” Sketchbook
Pencil kit (H, HB, B and above) Staedtler brand preferred
Xacto-style knife (Dollar Store is fine)
Fine sandpaper 220 Grit or Sandpaper Lead Pointer
Charcoal willow sticks ( not too small)
Stephanie is an established multi-Disciplinary visual artist with over 40 years of experience in portrait and figurative painting. Her ability as a multi-disciplinary artist enables her to focus more on leading and fostering students, whether privately or as groups, towards imagination and self-expression in her workshops.
Recently she is the recipient of the 2023 Marty Award, from the Mississauga Arts Council, for the category of Established Artist in Traditional form and her mentorship in the arts for Peel region.
