Learn how to print stunning, deep Prussian blue images in this one day workshop with Patricia Vega. Discover the magic alchemy of cyanotype printing; no camera and no darkroom needed!
Join visual artist Patricia Vega for a hands-on introduction to the fascinating world of cyanotype and create your own unique prints. This historic photographic printing process was developed in the 19th century and uses ultra violet (UV) light to create beautiful, distinctive Prussian blue images on paper, also referred to as sun-print.
Patricia guides participants through the process step by step. Learn the basics of how to make a cyanotype print by mixing chemistry, coating paper, and developing the print using the sun or UV lamp.
Students create a series of 5 × 7-inch cyanotype artworks on watercolour paper using botanicals, natural forms, textures, and other objects. The finished pieces can be enjoyed as small works of art or transformed into unique, handmade greeting cards.
Includes demonstrations, hands-on practice, and individual guidance throughout the process:
How to prepare the cyanotype solution
How to coat paper with cyanotype solution
How to arrange botanicals and other objects to create compositions
How exposure time affects the final image
How to wash and finish cyanotype prints

About Patricia Vega
Patricia Vega is a printmaker and cyanotype artist living and working in Mansfield, Ontario. Her artistic practice focuses on the historic cyanotype process, creating distinctive botanical and nature-inspired artwork in beautiful shades of blue. Patricia enjoys experimenting with cyanotype on both paper and textiles, and her Bohemian in Blue Collection includes fine art prints, silk scarves, cards, and other handmade pieces.
Patricia is passionate about sharing her knowledge and encouraging others to explore the creative possibilities of cyanotype through hands-on workshops.
