OPEN TO ALL SKILL LEVELS

Learn to paint with confidence, whether in Acrylics or Oils. This class is suitable for anyone looking to expand their painting experience, work towards their own style, without being constrained by a follow-the-leader class approach.

This course encourages a deeper investigation into colour and its fundamental role in laying down emotion and feeling in your paintings.

  • You will engage in a variety of painting exercises based on the elements and principles of art.

  • You will spend most of your time working on your own paintings. Discussion and feedback, in a supportive environment, will enhance your learning experience.

Beginners are welcome!

Materials List

  • 9” x 12” Canvas pad for exercises

  • Canvas size of your choice based on the subject

  • Disposable paint palette

  • Rags

  • Paper towel

  • Synthetic and Bristle – Flat 1/4”, 1/2”, 1”

  • Synthetic and Bristle – Filbert 1/4”, 1/2”, 1”

  • 2” brush for washes

  • Acrylic or Oil Paints

Acrylic Paint - Suggestions

  • Golden or Liquitex HEAVY BODY ACRYLICS (no fluid acrylics)

    • Standard Tubes 59ml

    • Cadmium red

    • Cadmium yellow

    • Lemon yellow

    • Ultra-marine blue

    • Titanium white

    • Mars black

    • Yellow ochre

    • Alizarin crimson

    • And any other colours you have or like - Bring them all!

  • Tri-Art Polymer (gloss or semigloss) OR Glazing medium

Oil Paint – Suggestions

  • Mineral Spirits

    • Odourless Mineral Spirits (1000ml)

    • Liquin (500ml)

  • Windsor&Newton Artist Oil colour or Gamblin Artists Oil Paints

    • Standard tubes 37ml

    • Permanent rose

    • Cadmium yellow medium

    • Lemon yellow

    • Ultra-marine blue

    • Titanium white

    • Ivory black

    • Raw umber

    • Alizarin Crimson

    • And any other colours you might have - Bring them all!

About Stephanie

Stephanie is an established multi-Disciplinary visual artist with over 40 years of experience in portrait and figurative painting. Her ability as a multi-disciplinary artist enables her to focus more on leading and fostering students, whether privately or as groups, towards imagination and self-expression in her workshops.

Recently she is the recipient of the 2023 Marty Award, from the Mississauga Arts Council, for the category of Established Artist in Traditional form and her mentorship in the arts for Peel region.
