Beyond Skin: The Contemporary Painted Portrait
Stephanie will be taking the student outside of the traditional portrait painting box. Where they will discover a colourful, expressive and efficient way to create a different kind of portrait, based on temperature and colour play. The session starts by working from a provided photo, and where creating likeness is not the objective.

Next the class will work from 2 live models, with a head-dress; opening another dimension to the portrait painting experience.

Beginner (must have portrait drawing experience) to Advanced

Materials List:

-Sketch paper for notes and working out drawing
- Graphite pencil
- White charcoal or Conte sticks or pencils

- 16” x 20” Canvas pad

- Polymer (Acrylic) or if working with traditional oil / water soluble oils, the appropriate odourless solvent

- Your choice of opaque non-toxic Paints (acrylics, water-soluble oils, traditional oil (odourless) in the following colours:
- Cadmium Red Light
- Ultramarine Blue
- Cadmium Yellow
- Alizarin Crimson
- Magenta
- Cadmium Orange
- Lemon Yellow
- Paynes Grey
- Titanium White
- Teal

- Paint palettes
- Synthetic or bristle brushes assortment large to small
- Rags, Towels, water container
