Taking Students outside of the traditional portraiture box, and discovering a colourful, expressive, and efficient way to create a different kind of portrait. Using an array of materials from paint to drawing tools, from patterns to line, while learning to successfully work from photographs and/or a Mirror!

No previous portrait drawing or painting is required.

Mixed Media Sketch book 9x12
Wooden Canvas –16x20 

Acrylic Paint
Titanium white
Yellow ochre
Cadmium red medium
Paynes Grey (or Ivory Black & Cobalt blue)
Primary Yellow
(AND any other colours you have or desire)

Brushes
Bristle or Synthetic brushes: #4 filbert, #8 flat, #10 flat, #12 flat
Large 1.5 – 2” brush (dollar store will do)

Drawing Tools
Black Conte or charcoal sticks – soft – medium
(And any other drawing tools you would like to use)

Gel Medium
Clear gesso
Assorted papers from decorative to tissue papers to napkins (patterned)
