In this Mystical and Majestic Forests Landscapes class, artists will have an opportunity to re-discover and reminisce about the forest, and nature through the media of watercolour. You will learn how to create numerous layers, and how to create and plan your works from the beginning right through to the finish.

We will examine and discuss our local terrain, flora, founa, atmospheric depth, colour composition, movement and how to translate natural light and luminosity into a painting. We will work step by step to create several works. First we will  chat about materials, composition and focal points. Then we will move onto design and how to complete a detailed sketch, and/or how to do an image transfer. Next we will devise a plan and options about light and luminosity and material alternatives to achieve this.

We will also chat about the definitions, art practices, and the archival nature watercolour and watercolour media, storage and hanging options, watercolour and the environment, and watercolour in the Group of Seven’s works, and watercolour practices which are relevant today.

I can guide you and help you learn some new things and elevate your work to the next level. I have been painting in watercolour for most of my life, and with recent advances in the raw materials for watercolour and watercolour media, I can update you across the board and bring to you numerous new innovations tools and tricks as well as a plethora of ideas. I also teach in the elementary school system through the “Artists in the Schools” program. Just as I began my own watercolor journey in Dufferin county and Maggiollys, and I fell in love with the media media of watercolour, nurtured through our local talented, and engaged. Now I feel like It’s my turn as an experienced artist and community teacher, to pass this passion and love of watercolours to you, to express, experiment, and to connect with other creatives, and the world.  I will work with you one on one to ensure you will have two completed works, which will demonstrate to your new and improved skills, new ideas, and an updated modern contemporary watercolour palette, and inspire you to continue creating many new paintings and develpe a a regular art practice. Watercolour paintings are a wonderful way to reminisce and connect with nature and with others. Lets amp up the colour, contrast, and then push our materials to the limit. Let me point you in the direction of developing your own artistic voice and style.

We will also do a draw for my in class demo painting, and for two original art cards. Good citizenship and kindness are also my goals in teaching and mentoring, let's pass this on!

I love spending the day teaching watercolours, these are among my favourite of days, so please join me. Let's get lost in the layers!
